Joomla version 1.5.23 was easy, through the patch file from dutchjoomla.org.

JCE is also easy, it provides a compolete pack which updates both component and plugin to the newest version.

EasyBlog component done the same way, but it also had newer module versions. Since I hate uninstalling modules and re-install them, I decided to unpack and ftp the contents of the newer versions. Language files (En) into the language directory, the rest in the module itself. It worked, although there are some changes to the layout that I don't like:

• The module that displays the latest posts does so now with a table. That happened to using an unordered list? Luckily I had a backup and replaced the default.php in the tmpl subfolder, to get my list back, along with my list-style-image.
• The module that displays the categories now displays the category image. I like that. But why put a border around it in the module template, I'd rather have that in a css file so I can decide my own style. So, made a copy of the default.php and fixed that, too.

But we're all nice up-to-date again.
