Error flash player with AV Reloaded

19 April 2011

After uploading the mp3-files into the right directory (set in the plugin's parameters, by default the media manager, images/stories/audio) inserting your audio files into an article is easily done by the component's editor button, which creates a little piece of code like this: { mp3}name-of-your-audiofile{/mp3}

Under the little player controls that turn up into your article to play the sound, you also get this lousy message: get yourself a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.

Well, dude, I do. Version 9.0.115 is so 2008.

Setting the parms in the plugin that comes with the component isn't going to work either, 'cause you simply can't select a version higher than 9.something-something and that might have to do with the fact that the plugin also dates a while back.

So how to solve this?

Client himself is good in googling as well and found this article.

Well. Apparently you need to provide an alt-tag in the player's parms, and you can leave it empty. Wouldn't have come up with this all by myself...

Anyway: the tag you put in your article should look like this: {mp3 alt=""}name-of-your-audiofile{/mp3} and you're good to go.

Now all there is left is: how to style the controls to some little-kids-proof-hunkin-big-buttons.
